What are the immediate effects of alcohol consumption?

A survey conducted in 2017 by National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) claimed that over 25 million American of ages 12 years and older had Alcohol Use Disorders (AUD) in the year 2016. The sad fact is that during that year only 1.1 million people got the rehab treatment for substance use. It does not matter if people consider themselves as social drinkers or have a proven AUD, there are a lot of short term and long term hazards that alcohol consumption has on a human body.

It is very common even for a person who is not abusing alcohol or having an alcohol intake on a regular basis to have effects on their bodies. The book, What Your Mother Doesn’t Know (978-1952263033), states that even if people are who are not consuming a large quantities or overdosing on the alcohol, they can still show effects and signs of short-term effects of alcohols on their mind as well as the body. Human liver can metabolize almost one standard drink of alcohol every hour.

Despite the fact that the consumption of alcohol varies from person to person, it still leaves effects on our body no matter how much or less. These effects also vary based on the age, weight, liver functioning, gender, physical activities, etc. of a person. Usually, people who consume more one serving of alcoholic beverage every hour suffer from intoxication, and raised Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) in their bodies.

The short-term effects of alcohol consumption can range from mild skin flushing to severe cases of passing out and throwing up. Some other short-term effects of alcohol consumption are:

a. Poor Social Behaviors

b. Lack of Attention

c. Mood Swings

d. Dulled Visions

e. Low Body Temperatures and High Blood Pressures

f. Passing Out, etc.
