What are the effects of alcoholism on a person?


There are a million ways in this world that we can categorize as self-destructive or harmful when it comes to adopting habits and incorporating something in our daily lives. Each day, millions of people in America as noticed to be dealing with multiple responsibilities at a time such as work, school, family, love-life, house, social lives, etc. with so many things going on, it becomes very difficult for an individual to be able to get done everything efficiently and they end up tiring themselves and get stuck with unmeetablecommitments.

If consumed in reasonable amounts, alcohol can prove to a very good way out for tall the stress that a person might be feeling at times but, abusing alcohol can also cause a lot of risk factors that can disrupt a person’s’ personal and professional lives. Right now, there are more than a hundred and twenty million Americans who are working full-time and out of all those people, more than 65% of people claim that they consume alcohol at some point and time during their day. Statisticians claim that the percentage of alcoholic people with full-time jobs is far greater than that of the unemployed ones who are having serious mental issues too.

Short term effects of consuming alcohol in light quantity can vary from person to person but generally, they are, anti-social behaviors, an attitude of violence, car accidents, hangovers, nausea and vomiting, irritability, etc. While in the longer run, alcohol poses a lot of serious risks including cancers, liver diseases, cardiovascular diseases, strokes, dependence on other people, mental health issues, etc.

Sociologists say that the population groups that are at the most risk of getting addicted to alcohol and portraying negative behaviors range from people of ages 14 to 29 years. A lot of male workers engage in alcohol consumption during their days and most of them are tradespersons or the people who are employed in lower-skilled and manual occupations. Moreover, it is also observed that people employed in the hospitality business, mining, agriculture, construction industries are the major chunk that contributes to the alcohol-consuming working-sector.

A lot of workplace factors such as working conditions, customs, practices, and environments can increase the risk of individual alcohol use and influence individual drinking patterns including. In order for the companies to avoid the extreme consumptions of alcohol in and out of workplace among their employees, it is very important that they come up with work hours and environments that do not make employees feel depressed and help them be productive and stress-free without consuming wine or any other alcoholic drink. They should also discourage the storage and keeping of wine and alcoholic drinks in the workplace and replace it with healthier non-alcoholic options.
