“Opportunity does not waste time with those who are unprepared.” Author IdowuKoyenikan has said in his book, Wealth for All: Living a Life of Success at the Edge of Your Ability. The best opportunities in life come to those who are actively look for them and are willing to take the risky jump in order to achieve their goal. A few people would deem opportunists as “selfish” or “unfair”. But the truth is that opportunists are just dreams who dream and turn their dreams into reality. For them nothing is impossible and they are willing to make sacrifices and putting in the extra effort to achieve what they really want in life. Just as Koyenikan has said that opportunity does really not waste time with people, who are not even ready to avail it. Opportunists on the other hand understand the value and importance of time. It is the most vital resource in one’s life and once it passes, it does not come back. In today’s world, the easiest thing that you can do is waste time, scrolling through never ending feeds, watching shows and movies and getting caught up with reading the juiciest gossip coming out of Hollywood. It is as if everything nowadays is carefully designed and crafted to keep us preoccupied and engaged with everything, except what is good for us and what can help us move forward in life.
It is true that many people around the world don’t receive the same opportunities in life, some come from poor families and neighbor hoods, and others have had troubled homes and some even struggle within themselves. People from rich families and neighbor hoods are presented with great opportunities almost naturally. But we all know there is nothing natural about that, it’s through their privilege that life presents them with better opportunities and luck. Though, this does not mean that people, who are less privileged, can’t avail opportunities. They can and they do, but they have to work harder and smarter than the rest of the people in the room. They have to constantly prove themselves of being worthy and deserving enough to get a shot at building a better life. This is extremely unfair to say the least, but not surprising at all. This world can be unfair and cruel. But at the same time it, at the right place and the right time we can be presented with an opportunity that can turn our life around. And at that moment it is up to us to grab that opportunity as fast as we can and make the best out of it. That is why it is important to adapt an opportunistic mindset in life. Opportunity can truly change your life for the better, just as it did for author and student, Cameron D. Wheeler. In his book, One Decision Away 978-1951630423, he discusses how becoming an opportunist changed his life around and helped him become the man he is today. There is a lot that people, who are struggling with different problems, can learn from his experience and help themselves do better in life, through Wheeler’s interactive book.
