Overcoming Tribulations and Trials as the Bible Says – Olayinka Olusola Akisanya

God and His prophets speak to us about countless subjects in regards to faith, love, loyalty, forgiveness and much more. There is everything said in the Bible that can help and guide us through all the highs and lows of life. One of the most important subject that the Bible informs us on is how to face tribulations and trials in life, which are inevitable. Through the Lord and Christ’s words, may we all learn and grow to become good Christians.

Facing trials and tribulations has been mentioned in the Bible multiple times, the most devoted prophets and religious figures were faced with great struggles in their lives. Their stories are what we should learn from, in order to overcome our own struggles. Understanding that struggles are presented to us so we can learn and grow from them. God puts us in an uncomfortable positions because He knows it is time for us to outgrow our old life and situation. As it is mentioned in James 1:2-4, NIV, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." Trials and errors in life are not beneficial themselves, but what we learn out of hard times is.

We should always be mindful that His love for us lies behind everything He does. So accepting that God is in control, instead of another human, will help relieve a certain amount of stress in the face of trouble. The purpose of the trials and tribulations is to transform and cleanse us, as well as to help us to see the love God has for us, so that we will truly recognize Him and be perfected by Him. The Bible tells us that as we face hurdles in life, God is preparing us for heaven in advance. "This is only one example of the fair, just way God does things, for He is using your sufferings to make you ready for His Kingdom." (II Thessalonians 1:5, TLB)

Ultimately, God and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ can help us pass the trials and tribulations of life. As God’s character is described as the wisest, who is full of perfect, unchanging wisdom and He is Gracious and Merciful, He will surely answer our prayers and guide us to the right path, especially in the darkest hour of the day. He will be our light in the dark days, guiding us just as North Star does.

In the Bible, it is said, "If you want to know what God wants you to do, ask Him, and He will gladly tell you, for He is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask Him; He will not resent it. But when you ask Him, be sure that you really expect Him to tell you, for a doubtful mind will be as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind; and every decision you then make will be uncertain, as you turn first this way, and then that. If you don't ask with faith, don't expect the Lord to give you any solid answer." (James 1:5, TLB)

In Surviving the Opposite, by Olayinka Olusola Akisanya, a fellow devoted Christian shares her experience and her faith with the world. She delves deep into the words of God and how they helped her in her darkest time. And how they will help and guide us all, if we just open our hearts to Him and his beloved son Jesus Christ.
