Life is being Selfish

Life is nothing but managing stress and being selfish. The first statement sure seems a bit absurd or may be more than what is accepted but it is the truth. Many of us think that we are going through a lot of difficulties in our life; we seem to be struggling in every dimension, at home, in the office, with the money and taking care of our family. The regular thought of keeping it all together and giving your best build up a great burden over your head. The way we manage that accumulated stress is what makes us who we are.

All of us are in search for a better future, every day we put in a little more effort to achieve our goals for our mental and emotional satisfaction. Even all the morals that we have and follow are not there in our lives because we want to be kind to others, it is because we want to build a better society according to what we find comfortable. All the gestures of kindness that we depict have a one basic instinct behind and that is to survive.

We all are selfish; not at just some point but humans have been selfish since the beginning of time. Every emotion that we have, every action that we take and every instinct that we follow are meant to benefit our own selves. The acts of kindness, sympathizing and empathizing are just gestures that we use to feel better about ourselves while we pretend to do it for the betterment of our society. It is understandable and in no way this fact undermines our character. Most of us just refrain from accepting this harsh reality but it is as true as our own existence.

With all the battles that goes on in our lives and all the troubles that we face each day these signals assist us with keeping up our mental soundness and provide us a guidance to push ahead throughout everyday life. In any case, that doesn't place our characters in a terrible spot, it is fundamental and we as a whole need it. Being narrow minded encourages us to endure and it has supported individuals to get through in unfathomable circumstances.

There is no way to eliminate the hardships but there are some people’s lives that can give motivation to move on. One such motivation is the book “The Long Journey” by Denys Nshimiyimana. Denys has described his life experience and the true events of his survival during the time of civil war. The agony and catastrophe he went through are appalling but his perseverance led him to his freedom.
