How do crime scene investigators affect a case?

A Crime Scene Investigator is a member of law enforcement agencies who is solely responsible for identifying and investigating the physical evidence at the scene of a crime. It is also often believed that crime scene investigators are the professionals performing tests on the physical evidence which is the job for forensic scientists and professionals.

The novel, The Enigma Man, depicts that depending on what the crime scene investigator's role in the particular agency is, their duties vary significantly. Some of them perform standard physical evidence collection and preservation duties while in some places the CSIs perform more specialized tasks, such as DNA and print recovery, etc.

Everything that happens at a crime scene leads the detectives and investigators towards the criminal so they need to be very careful when it comes to analyzing the crime scenes because they are the playgrounds for the criminals and if analyzed properly and effectively they lead us directly to the criminals too. Despite the fact that crime scene investigators make it easier for the detectives to solve cases, there are a lot of things that are not exactly considered to be good when it comes to CSIs and their effects on the cases:

What happens when a person isguilty of doingsomething but gets away because science could not present enough evidence? The judges and juries these days require hard and solid proof and smoking guns just so they can point it and the culprit goes behind the bars but when there is no such thing the accused is able to walk away freely on the basis of lack of evidence. In a way, CSIs have made cases easier but it has also put a question to the authenticity of the rulings.

Criminals can obviously watch the same TV shows that CSIs and normal people do. If they find out that someone will be caught if they did this, don’t you think that they would make sure not to make those mistakes? The fact that the investigators come up with evidence and proof that a normal detective never can is undeniable but is it enough when it comes to bringing justice? Detectives believe that none of the leads are unimportant enough to be ruled out of the possibility of tracking the criminal through because no matter how small a lead is it can still prove to be effective when it comes to going after the bigger ones.

So, it is very important for us to understand the role of a CSI in detail before jumping in to adopt it as a professional for yourself because we know and agree that it comes with its pros and perks but we can never ignore the fact that there is definitely another way and side to this coin which makes it difficult for young people to just right away jump into forensicsciences and crime scene investigation careers.
