Alcohol Use Disorder and It’s Effects – Cameron D. Wheeler

Drinking alcohol with friends and family, for celebrations and parties, sound normal and it is. But when someone starts excessively drinking to get away from situations and feeling that are weighing them down, then the person has extreme chances of developing alcohol use disorder.

Alcohol use disorder, which is also known as alcoholism, occurs when you consume large amounts of alcohol, are unable to stop and depend on it to suppressor cover your emotions and problems. A person, who suffers from alcohol use disorder, is at high risk of developing chronic diseases and other serious health conditions, which include, high blood pressure, liver disease, digestive problems and cancer of the mouth, lung, throat, esophagus, breast and colon. This also involves binge drinking — a drinking trend in which a male consumes five or more consumes within two hours or a female consumes at least four drinks in two hours. Binge drinking raises major health and safety threats.

The causes for alcoholism can vary from person to person. Some may develop it over time due to steady drinking, others might have a family history of alcohol use disorder. Drinking from an early age can be the reason for some people, while others may suffer from depression or any other mental health illness and use alcohol as a means of escape from their feelings and emotions. This is one of the struggles author, Cameron D. Wheeler faced in his life. Wheeler talks about fighting this addiction and successfully recovering from it in his book, One Decision Away 978-1951630423.
